Fun FRIENDS
for Young Children
The Fun FRIENDS curriculum helps build the social and emotional skills of young children by using fun, play-based group activities. By learning resilience skills early in their development, children build confidence to facilitate a smooth transition into school life. Fun FRIENDS nurtures positive relationships with family and peers, encouraging children to thrive.

sessions
The Fun FRIENDS Program is a multi-session course. Each session takes between 2 – 2.5 hours, depending on the activities chosen by the facilitator. To help participants remember the FRIENDS concepts, and to bring structure to the sessions, we use the following FRIENDS acronym:
Feelings (talk about your feelings and care about other people’s feelings) Relax (do “bubble” breathing, have some quiet time) I can try! (we can all try our best) Encourage (step plans to happy home) Nurture (quality time together doing fun activities) Don’t forget – be brave! (practice skills everyday with friends/family) Stay happy

affects
Anxiety affects over 20% of children in this age group. If it is not dealt with appropriately, anxiety can severely impact a child’s development, and can ever create problems later in life. Anxiety causes a child excessive worry about things like homework, attending social gatherings, and even non-local events like natural disasters.

challenges
The Adult Resilience program is ideal for adults who may be dealing with a dramatic increase in pressure from school (or finishing high school), choosing a career, social lives, and home. This may lead to stress and anxiety about exams, relationships, and body image, among other things. Because of this, it is not uncommon for teenagers to experience anxiety or depression, which limits their ability to thrive during this time. The Adult Resilience program equips participants with the skills necessary to rise to and overcome these challenges. This enables them to find fulfilment in creativity and productivity and flourish in whatever stage of life.
